Istituto Marangoni Miami (IMM) presented its highly-anticipated Annual Fashion Show, La Grande Bellezza, on May 20th at 8:00 PM. The custom, special build out mimicked an effervescent Italian city, in Jungle Plaza, a cultural cornerstone of the Miami Design District (MDD) and represented the essence of the Italian roots of IMM coupled with the vibrant American tendencies that make the institution unique.
Now in its third year, the event showcased the final collections of IMM’s fashion design students while continuing to act as the most important fundraiser for the school, allowing for the continuation of scholarships funded by IMM’s nonprofit, the Miami Fashion Foundation (501c3) which was created to support Miami’s next generation of fashion talent.
Inspired by the themes of eternal elegance and the soul of Italian artistry, La Grande Bellezza transformed the runway into a living masterpiece. This year, the showcase celebrated the exquisite details and textures that define Italian style.
“In this, our third graduation showcase, we hope to continue to show the community not just how talented our student body is but how important it is to nurture and support that talent with access to top-tier instruction and industry opportunities” said Hakan Baykam, President of Istituto Marangoni Miami. “La Grande Bellezza is a celebration of the beauty that comes to life when we provide the space for our students to birth their unique visions.”
Besides an incredible display of fashions, the night was punctuated by live performances including from Italian singer and performer Arianna Bergamaschi who has collaborated with internationally renowned artists including Pitbull, Shaggy, will.i.am, Michael Bolton, Andrea Bocelli, Il Volo, and Flo Rida, throughout her career.
Emceed by IMM Executive Vice President and industry veteran, Eva Hughes, Miami’s creative scene came together for an evening dedicated to originality, emerging talent, and contemporary design. Bringing together leaders and enthusiasts from the worlds of fashion, art, and culture, the event spotlit the work of IMM’s graduating fashion students presented on models who were beautifully made up by the Godina Worldwide team at GWT beauty as they debuted their latest collections on the runway for the first time for an audience that included supermodel Karolina Kurkova, famed celebrity stylists Danny Santiago and Irma Martinez, influencers Gabriela Medina, Jenny Lopez, Elle Ullman, Roy Teng Moure and many more. Witnessing an inspiring presentation of fresh perspectives, innovative craftsmanship, and boundary-pushing aesthetics the show provides Miami with international recognition as a center for creativity and design, the showcase is poised to stand out as a major celebration of the city’s continuously rising artistic voices.
Supported by long time IMM partners like Swiss watch brand RADO the presentation was nothing short of memorable.
